The beautiful family owned country house (luxury cottage) of Johannes Ellertsson and Sigurbjörg Bjarnadottir, is ideally situated at the quiet end of Kjos Valley.
 
It was built in 1996 and is tastefully furnished comprising a living room, a comfortable kitchen and a terrace. There are 3 bedrooms, one double bedroom and 2 rooms with four-poster beds, each for 4 persons. The bathroom has a toilet and a shower, of course with hot water. There is central heating throughout the house and a thermostat.
 
This self-catering bungalow is well equipped with TV, DVD, radio and CD player, and kitchen facilities such as a cooker with oven, a gas grill, all dishes and a coffee machine, a refrigerator but without microwave. Kitchen towels are supplied, only all food has to be brought.
 
The house is set in rural surroundings overlooking the dale of Kjos and is only 300m off Lake Medalfellsvatn, which is lined by a number of summerhouses. The farmers in the valley are trying to change over to biological products (crops).
 
The area is ideal for outdoor activities as well as for relaxing in a peaceful countryside. Hjalli Farm where you can go in for horse riding is only 5 km away. The rent for Hjardarholt includes the angling licence for Lake Meðalfellsvatn. Quite near (at 10 km distance) is the mouth of the lax-river "Laxa i Kjos" – ask us for information.
 
Hjardarholt is located at the northern edge of Esja, which is ideal for hill walking. There are of course, many other possibilities of exploring the Kjos-countryside. Day-excursions by car to Thingvellir (ca 40km away), Gullfoss and Geysir are no problem. The Highland route of Kaldidalur is within easy reach as well as Borgarfjördur and the Snaefellsnes peninsula. And it is only 45 km to Reykjavik!
 
Shopping facilities are at Reykjavik or Mosfellsbaer. At the village shop and cafeteria Kaffi Kjos you can get some little vital things.

4+  nights - € 120,- pr. night

4+  nights - €   85,- pr. night

Cleaning on departure day costs extra € 70,- (optional).
