Borgarnes & Reykholt

BORGARNES & the valley of REYKHOLT.

The drive will take us along the shores of the fjord Hvalfjördur to the village of Borgarnes, where we walk in the footsteps of one of the most famous heros of the Saga Time, Egill Skallagrimsson. Visiting the fertile farming area of Borgarfjördur some of the sights there include the hotspring Deildartunguhver and Reykholt, where the Icelandic statesman and poet Snorri Sturluson lived in the 13th century. We'll see one of the most enchanting sites that Iceland has to offer, Hraunfossar - the LavaWaterfalls. From here we head back to Reykjavik through the new tunnel under fjord Hvalfjördur.
