Landmannalaugar-Skaftafell
Landmannalaugar - Eldgjá - Skaftafell National Park.
With this passport you will gain access to the South Central Highlands with Landmannalaugar in Fjallabak Nature Reserve as a focal point. The colourful landscapes at 600m above sealevel also reveal a variety in forms and shapes.
The route runs via the valley of Þjórsárdalur, Landmannaleið (Dómadalur) to Landmannalaugar. After the notorious Eldgjá canyon the route brings you to Skaftafell National Park, at the roots of the impressive Vatnajökull glacier, via Skaftártunga, Kirkjubæjarklaustur and the barrenness of Skeiðarársandur.

Both Landmannalaugar & Skaftafell are popular destinatons for hikers, the former one also being the starting point for the challenging Laugavegur - Þórsmörk trekking route. Camping facilities and overnight stay in mountain huts available, also at Hólaskjól in Skaftártunga.
The return route (or vice versa) runs along the South Coast via Kirkjubæjarklaustur, Vík, Skógar (hiking trail to Þórsmörk), Seljalandsfoss (bus connection to Þórsmörk), Hvolsvöllur, Hella and Selfoss.
You are free to stop as long as you please anywhere along the route within the passports time of validity, always travelling in the same direction, either clock- or anticlockwise.
The return route (or vice versa) runs along the South Coast via Kirkjubæjarklaustur, Vík, Skógar (hiking trail to Þórsmörk), Seljalandsfoss (bus connection to Þórsmörk), Hvolsvöllur, Hella and Selfoss.
